Good morning everybody! Well, we are still feeling the effects of winter here in the N.W Province. So i am still busy with the quilts and crochet projects I had started and have to now complete. I have done some more furniture re-arranging and want to share a few pics with you all. Then rush off to a few errands that have to still be done.

Enjoy...

Champs...in Los Angeles...

Well the two 'champs' have landed safely in L.A! and having a wonderful time, it seems. I am so happy for them. I call my son a champ because he had to stop his intense training and focus on his business instead and help Laura with her training and competition preparation. That takes a huge sacrifice from somebody who had set his heart on doing well and also competing overseas. This is  their first time overseas as well!
What a relief that everything worked out just fine and we can relax for a few days before Laura competes. Thankyou to all for the prayers and well wishes. We cannot survive without prayer and the support of others. I'm going to post a few pics of them at the O.R.Tambo airport - Johannesburg on Friday night.

Fred & laura checking in. I have never experienced such excitement.

All my kids! I call Laura my child as well because she has been part of our family for so long and I love her. She is good for my son Freddy and the other 2 siblings. Always very respectful and loving. She is not only beautiful on the outside, but the inside as well.

My mom with the two jet setters.

Mom with Cheney.

3 blondies in a row!

I'm always overloaded with luggage! But you never know..... always something one needs.

Have heard that the Fred and Laura are safe and sound in L.A and shopping up a storm there; in between the training. He trains her and trains with her and eats EVERYTHING she eats! How supportive is that?

Anyway have a lovely day. Take care. See you tomorrow.

THE DAY HAS DAWNED........

The costume is done! Complete and looks better than I thought! Unfortunately I may not show it now, but will do once the competition is over.

This page is dedicated to my kids who are flying overseas tonight and all our friends and family who have supported them( and myself)! I realise once again that we need each other. Even if it's just an encouraging word or sms message. So many people have sponsored them in so many different ways. One gets overwhelmed at the love and support people still have in their hearts for others. This has once again renewed my trust and faith in other people!

I am very tired this morning and feeling quite fragile. We had a crisis yesterday with the costume, but thanks to dear Adrie who had a good idea to resolve the matter and dear Tiki supporting me on the fone, I was able to resolve the matter and am over the moon happy.

Laura & Fred taken sometime ago at a restaurant after one of their competitions.
They have been together for 10 yrs and still very much in love. They are good for each other and good to one another and all of us! A rare find. She is beautiful inside and outside. I'm thankful for all the small and big blessings in my life!

A relaxed family pic taken shortly before Charles left for his last trip.

We drive them through to O.R Tambo airport just now and the kids, mom and I will be back tomorrow afternoon! Pse pray for their and our safety.

So, happy weekend everybody. Chat tomorrow. God bless.

Angels protect my children as they fly overseas tomorrow.....

Hello there! I am still busy with Laura's bikini and they fly out tomorrow night, so I still have some last bits and pieces of decorating to do to the bikini which she has to wear for the competition in Las vegas.

I haven't forgotten you all, but need to get done with it today.
Hope you have a good day!

Inspired...

Hello dears. I am still working on Laura's bikini that she has to wear for the competition, but just wanted to share some things that inspire me. I am a little bit stressed and very tired at the moment, so need a distraction to share things that mean much to my creative juices! On top of quilting, photography, knitting, reading, scrapbooking and gardening, I love crocheting and these little flowers are so handy to put on cushions. Don't you just love the colours?

I can't wait to see this blanket that my mom knitted for Cheney....

One of my own quick designs I had to do for a colleague at school last year, which turned out as 'brooches' for her boat trip.

I also enjoy working with felt and here I designed some pics for my friend Linda. She was knitting a jersey for her 1st grandchild.

Hands...... I love and admire people's hands so much. There is history and stories to tell in our hands. These are my dear mom's hands... quilting.

Tiki's hands. Beautiful! Here she's helping my mom with her quilt - 'Always Believe in Angels'.

Tiki and mom busy with a workshop.....

One of the many crochet projects I am busy with.

Have a wonderful day.

TODAY.......

Today I sit and think about how blessed and fortunate I am to have a beautiful son and his girlfriend. They have been together for 10 yrs and make a very unusual couple. They are both fitness and health fanatics and right at this moment are preparing for the World Championships in Las Vegas. Unfortunately my son cannot compete as he has too much demands on his business and decided to withdraw and support Laura instead. I am amazed and so impressed with his unselfish love and care for her. Yes, she is beautiful inside and outside. He has been assisting with her training and eating the same foods that she eats. That is not easy because I know how much my child loves his food, snacks and treats. In fact, both of them! But they both stick to the strict regime of eating and will 'hang out' after the competition and enjoy all the food America has to offer them.

So my blogging may be a bit neglected this week as we all jump in and help them prepare. I am busy decorating her costume and sat until after midnight last night; designing, gluing and stitching all the bling on. I cannot show now, but will do once they have left.

I will greet you and wish you all a blessed day. Please pray God's protection over my kids and that Laura will have favour with the judges there. She is a deserving winner with a very generous heart.

Lions @ Stella

While we were in Stella, Stephen took us to see some privately owned lions, belonging to a friend of his. They are so well fed and lazy, but the minute one shows signs of maybe being tired or injured, they rush up to the fence and start stalking you. Very scary! I never realised how big they actually are. I measured whilst I stood against the fence and the lions' heads reached as high as my shoulder.

Charles taking some photographs. See how alert and curious they are.

Taking pics....

After our visit there, I have more respect for them now. You don't stand a 'cat's chance' against one of them. These are reasonably calm, but I still wouldn't chance anything. They are opportunists, but still very beautiful and majestic. Every time we have been in the game park and seen lions, they look reasonably big but not that bad. Don't kid yourself........... lions are huge and remain king of the jungle!
