Our daughter Cheney, made the decision about 2 years ago, to study in the field of Nature Conservation. Since she could walk and talk, she has always had the urge to try save something... from a fledgling to a sperm whale. We have raised many fledglings that have fallen out of nests in our garden; some survived and others died, which would devastate her! She has always been so willing to help raise our new born wolf cubs and yorkie pups and sacrificing her sleep, only to get up and go to school the following day!
She is an amazing human being and I never thought that she would follow through the strenuous course out in the bush in Hoedspruit (on the border of the Kruger National Park); but she has and passed with excellent results!
So, on 11th April this year she had her graduation - FGASA Level 1. My mom, Bev and I undertook the long trip to Hoedspruit, with her dad and rest of our immediate family in tow!
I took a few pics on the day that we dropped her off in January but was so heartsore that I could hardly focus. This was the first time that she had been away from us all! How do we know as parents if we have taught our children enough about... God, survival, social skills and relationships, the facts of life and surviving in this big and sometimes evil world? I don't know. We try our best and can only carry them in prayer.

Her bedroom.... a far cry from her pink and black bedroom at home....... but they have all the basics they need to survive for a few months!
