EnStyle - Parys

As I mentioned the other day, I spent Sunday in one of my favourite towns; quite close to my home......Parys!! What it is about Parys, I don't quite know! Perhaps the plentiful antique shops, boutiques, decor shops, restaurants, etc. It just has a 'vibe' of its own! I have made so many friends with the shop keepers there and just love their interesting and stimulating conversation.

I took some photos for you all again and trust that you will enjoy them and also managed to purchase some items for myself for a change, which I want to share with you!

I found some French lace off-cuts from one of my special shops - 'Merci'- and bought some beautiful "Toile" fabric! Just love the red and white theme for my new kitchen re-vamp! Also threw in some crochet hearts and a flower! So pretty! Don't know yet what I will do with them, but it won't be long before I make a 'plan'!

Did you know....?

"Toile-de-Jouy" is French, meaning "linen cloth" or "canvas". It has a decorative pattern consisting of a white or off-white background with repeating patterns of a complex scene. It was originally produced in Ireland in the mid-18th Century and quickly became popular in Britain and France. The term "Toile de Jouy" originated in France in the late 18th Century. In French, it means "cloth from Jouy-en-Josas"; a town in France.........

These are 2 large magnets which I'm considering framing. Found them in 'blou', which sells anything and everything in the colour blue.
Letitia squeezed this packet of Greek Kourabiedes into my hand on my way out!  I will get stuck into them once my fast is over! I just love Letitia and Rolandi! They are really so kind and caring!

My other purchase from "fraai" - Rolandi's beautiful shoppe. She spent time moving it around and it looks even better now. A feast for the eyes! She also has a range of 'Tretchikoff' products, which I adore!! Couldn't resist this little purse of 'Miss. Wong' motif. The notebook is for hubby - who is also a sucker for stationery. Although I am as well! I'll probably end up keeping it for myself! What is it about stationery.......?

Did you know......?

......the story of the lucky pigeon?

- One morning while painting towards his 1st exhibition, Tretchikoff had an unexpected visit from a pigeon. Being superstitious, he took the pigeon's arrival as a good omen because in Russia it is good luck to be visited by a bird.

Next, Tretchikoff noticed that the numbers on the pigeon's ID ring added up to 13 - his lucky number!
The pigeon was invited to become part of the family and in doing so, Tretchikoff's luck started to take a turn for the better. Every day the lucky pigeon would sit on top of his easel keeping the master company.

Today, the Lucky Pigeon lives on as the seal of an official Vladimir Tretchikoff product!

Trust you enjoyed this post? Thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow we go on another tour of some of the shops and one or two new ones that have opened!! Can't wait to show you. Have a lovely day!
God bless!

  1. What a lovely post. I just love all things antique, they just have a well loved feel to them, and folks use to take pride in the items they made, a bygone era filled with romance.
